What is a meteorite!?
We all know that a meteorite is a rock that comes from the space.

But why it comes down? It’s because two rocks on the space crash, so the small particles of some rocks get into the earth’s atmosphere, and because of the air and the gravity the rock become really hot, this one will be covered of fire, and that’s why we also see shooting stars.

Meteorites haven’t been found only at the earth. They have seen some others at the moon and mart.

Almost always meteorites are named depending on where they fall. But if there’s the coincidence that a lot of these ones fall at the same place they are distinguished by letters or numbers.

These ones are some of the most popular meteorites that have fall in the earth

  • Vredefort crater is the largest verified impact crater on Earth. It is located in the Free State Province of South Africa, and named after the town of Vredefort, which is situated near its centre

  • Estimated at over 60 tons, the Hoba meteorite (also known as Hoba West meteorite) is the largest known meteorite and the most massive naturally-occurring piece of iron known at the Earth's surface. It was named after the place where it was found, the Hoba West Farm, near Grootfontein, Namibia. It has been uncovered but, because of its large mass, has never been moved from where it fell.
